The Winthrop Senior Center opened its doors as a new, state-of-the-art facility at 35 Harvard Street in September of 1992. In 2012 the name was changed to the Robert A. DeLeo Senior Center in honor of local resident, philanthropist and Speaker of The House of Representatives Robert A. DeLeo.
The Center is 7,200 square feet of adaptable space and is handicap accessible. The Center is a multifunctional facility that offers a wide variety of programs designed to meet the needs of senior citizens.
All activities at the Senior Center have been designed to meet the needs of Winthrop’s thriving over sixty population. We hope, that you will enjoy your time with us and that we’ll share many wonderful memories together.
The Center, which is managed by the Director, Senior Center staff, and Council on Aging, is a service agency of the Town of Winthrop. It meets the diverse interests of Winthrop residents in areas such as entertainment, fitness, education, social services, and recreation.
